Harmony Music Therapy Scotland aims to
encourage,
enable and
empower
people of all ages and abilities through interactive musical experiences.
We believe that music should be made accessible to all no matter the age, ability/skill, location, medical diagnosis, or educational need as music can be beneficial to all.
Music Therapy sessions are offered to infants, children, adolescents, adults and elderly both to individuals and groups in the Highlands of Scotland incorporating where needed singing, movement, musical instrument playing, songwriting, listening, and sensory exploration.
Harmony Music Therapy Scotland works with the following client groups:
Through musical involvement clients' abilities are strengthened and transferred to other areas of their lives. For example music can aid communication and can be helpful to those who find it difficult to express themselves in words. Research in therepeutic benefits of music supports its effectiveness in many areas such as: overall physical rehabilitation and facilitating movement, increasing people's motivation to become engaged in their treatment, providing emotional support for clients and their families, and providing an outlet for expression of feelings.
